Are you planning for a Halloween party?
Do you need easy costume ideas?
Want to roast some Instagram Influencers?
Have I got a list of costumes for you!
Why you should listen to me: Hi! I’m Nick Gray. I’ve hosted hundreds of happy hour events and cocktail parties. For this article, I attended a huge Instagram influencer party in Austin, Texas. I took pictures and documented the best ones.
Protein Powder Fitness Influencer
These guys dressed up like a fitness influencer or a “Protein Powder Influencer.” This is a popular meme among fitness enthusiasts or athlete audiences.
What you need for this costume:
- Headband, hat, or visor
- Muscle t-shirt (with arms exposed)
- Protein drink shaker bottle
- Wrist sweatbands
- Assorted gym accessories, such as: weight belt, weighted vest, gym towel
- Fitness tracking smartwatch
Cardboard Poster Sign Person
This is the easiest Halloween costume idea. You’ve probably seen the guy based in New York City who holds up cardboard signs with phrases and sayings.
A few other people did this costume idea, too. Here they all are at the party:
What you need to make this Cardboard Sign Guy costume:
- Cardboard boxes, which you can cut into pieces. Even old Amazon boxes work!
- THICK black Sharpie marker or whiteboard marker.
- Sunglasses (optional)
- Add some trending hashtags like #BeReal or #CleanGirl
This is important: you need a thick black marker. Do not try to use a thin marker, or a pen.
Selfie Queen
This is one of my favorite Instagram or Influencer costume ideas! All you need is a selfie light and an external battery to power the selfie light.
Costume ingredients are very simple:
- Selfie light, available on Amazon or anywhere
- Battery pack to power the selfie light
- Makeup or fashion accessories, optional
- A phone grip with a built-in ring light
Hashtag Girls Costume
These girls came dressed with stickers of various hashtags. They wore solid-colored dresses and then applied the stickers at the party to complete the look.
What you need to create this costume:
- Various Post-It notes or small, colorful stickers
- Black Sharpie-style marker, to write the hashtags on the stickers with
- Solid-colored dress. It will contrast the stickers better
Be sure to remember to bring both the stickers and a black Sharpie-style marker to write the hashtags.
Verified Influencer Costume
Perhaps you want to make fun of people who worship the “Verified” recognition on Instagram. Or who always use the #ad tag on their sponsored posts. Then this is an easy costume idea for you.
How to make this costume:
- Little black dress, or black top and black skirt
- Stickers which will stick to skin
- Marker to write words such as: Influencer, Verified, and #AD
Fake Spiritual Guru
Meditation, motivation, and gurus. Spiritual gurus are so big on Instagram these days! Here are some costume ideas for that.
What you need for this costume:
- White linen shirt, ideally oversized and baggy
- Multiple “spiritual” necklaces
- Positive attitude ????
OnlyFans Model
Many people on Instagram also moonlight as OnlyFans creators. The host of the party, Kyle, dressed up as a fake OnlyFans costume with a creative twist. His shirt was a collection of ceiling fans!
What you need for this costume:
- OnlyFans shirt
- Dollar bills, sticking out of the shirt
Eccentric Yoga Teacher
Perhaps you’ve seen a lot of fitness influencer content online. There are a lot of famous yoga teachers on Instagram, too! This is another easy costume idea.
What you need to make this yoga teacher costume:
- Bikini or swimsuit, or brightly colored yoga pants and top
- Exercise band or rolled up yoga mat
Fake Author, Entrepreneur, and Investor Costume
For the men and guys who are looking for costume ideas, this might be one of the easiest. This person at the party simply wrote “Author, Entrepreneur, and Investor” on a sheet of paper. Then he taped that to a black shirt.
What you need for this costume:
- Black t-shirt
- Tape
- Plain white sheet of paper
- Black marker
Travel Hacking Points Influencer
This costume is very niche, but we have some friends in this community of “travel hackers,” so I’m including it.
What you need for this costume:
- Hawaiian-style button-up t-shirt, ideally unbuttoned
- Hawaiian flower lei
- Credit card brochure, for shirt pocket
- Credit cards, for shirt pocket
Link In Bio
This was my costume. I dressed up as the character “Link” from Zelda. Get it? Link in Bio (LOL).
Personally, I thought it was the best and most creative costume. But I admit that it is a stretch. Someone must know who Link from Zelda is, and then they have to put the pieces together.
What you need for this Instagram Link in Bio costume:
- Link costume, which I rented from a costume store for $20
- Name tag sticker that says “BIO”
- Plastic sword, purchased from a party supply store for $9
Little Miss “Do you have a boat?”
My friend Courtney dressed up as one of the “Little Miss” characters. She called her original costume “Little Miss Do You Have a Boat?” It was a cute costume!
To make this costume, here’s what you need:
- Boater hat
- Bikini top
- Jean or other shorts, or bikini bottoms
- Print out a sign that says “Little Miss Do You Have a Boat?”
- Lanyard to hang the sign on
