Housewarming Party Games

Last updated: September 25, 2024

Housewarming parties are a great way to celebrate a new home and create memories with friends and family.

In this post, I listed below some housewarming party games that you could try.

Why you should listen to me: My name is Nick Gray. I wrote a book about how to host parties, and I’ve helped many people host their own housewarming parties. I’ve hosted several of my own housewarming parties, too.

Scavenger Hunt

Create a scavenger hunt around your new home. Hide clues in different areas of the house. This can be a good way to get your guests familiar with the layout of your home.

Housewarming Bingo

Create a bingo card with different items or tasks that guests can complete during the party, such as “Meet a neighbor” or “Try a new food.” The first person to complete a line or a full card wins a prize.

Here are some ideas for bingo squares that you can use:

  • Meet a Neighbor
  • Visit the Backyard
  • Explore the Basement
  • Dip in the Pool
  • Walk a Lap (Around the House)
  • Empty the Trash (LOL)
  • See the Garage
  • Visit the Upstairs
  • Take a Selfie

Name That Room

Before the party, take photos of different areas of the house, such as the kitchen, living room, and bathroom. Print the photos and place them on a board. Then, have guests try to guess which room each photo represents.

Note: If your pictures are too wide, it will be easy to guess which room the photos are taken in. For this game to work well, you’ll need to take closeup photos.

DIY Home Decor

Set up a craft station where guests can make their own home decor items, such as painted picture frames or decorative pillows. This is a fun way to get creative and make something unique for the new home.

Here are a few craft ideas that your guests could easily do at your housewarming party:

  • Popsicle stick photo frame
  • Sew Keychains
  • Scrapbook Paper Greeting Cards
  • Decorative Coasters
  • Crochet

Guess the Housewarming Gift

As guests arrive, have them write down a guess as to what they think your favorite housewarming gift will be. At the end of the party, reveal the answer and award a prize to the person who guessed correctly. Another variation of this game is to have people guess who brought which gift.

Note: Housewarming gifts are not mandatory! And the purpose of a housewarming party is not to collect gifts. But it can also be a nice way for your friends and neighbors to welcome you. Even a simple bottle of wine can be appreciated.

Conclusion

Housewarming party games can be a good way to fill the time, mix up your groups, and give introverts something to do during a party.

The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the company of friends and family during this special occasion.
